What "max 8" changes on this trail

The descent into the canyon is steep and icy, and the walk out is a climb. With eight people, a guide can see everyone on the slope and wait for the slowest walker; that is what reviewers of the small groups praise most. The critical reviews on Korouoma tours are rarely about the canyon and mostly about a guide who walked ahead or rushed the group, and that is easier to avoid when the group is small.

A small group does not make the trail quieter. You share the canyon with every other tour and with visitors who drove themselves, so the start time matters as much as the group size.

Who sets which limit

Arctic GM, Wild about Lapland, Beyond Arctic and Lapland Outdoor Adventures each cap their Korouoma tour at 8. The two combination tours with a cap of 8 are the Auttiköngäs day with The Treasure of Lapland and the Riisitunturi day with Aurora Monkeys. Arctic Aurora Experience sells its hike as a small group or a private tour, without stating a number. BookLapland offers a guided small-group option next to its coach transfer; the coach option is a full coach and no guide on the trail.
